• Re-read “Cinderella’s Stepsisters”
• Mark the speech indicating where Toni Morrison makes her most compelling statement.

Context Clues
1. Circle difficult words from “Cinderella’s Stepsisters” look for context clues for their meaning.
2. Write the words on your own paper. Identify what type of context clue was used.
3. Explain the meaning of the word based on the context clue.
4. Also, write a sentence for each SAT word use context clues, underline clues, identify the type of clue.

Author’s Purpose
Put students in groups to discuss their Author’s purpose chart. They will select evidence from the text to support their argument. Each group will share the Author’s Purpose, Intended Message and the group’s reaction and report to the class.
