Objective:  RI.9-10.1 Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly and inferred.

Essential Question:  How does the author convey meaning explicitly and inferred?

Higher Order Question:  Based on the information given, how does each piece/detail contribute to the meaning of the text?

Step One:  Teacher demonstrates how to print “grammar comments” from turnitin.com.
Step Two:  Students write revisions of their essays.  Pay particular attention to your thesis; lead in (prepare the reader for the quote); in depth elaboration (specific to the quote, use key words from the quote); and your conclusion.  Review all grammar mistakes you made in your first essay.  Do not make the same mistakes.
Step Three: Type your essay; print your essay; review your essay with a peer reviewer.
Step Four: Improve your essay further based on your peer review.
Step Five:  Submit your essay to turnitin.com

Home Learning: 
  • Complete revising your essay and submit to turnitin.com if not finished in class.   Final essay revisions are due for 3B Monday, Oct. 14th, 2A & 4A Tuesday, Oct. 15th.
  • Begin reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks Part Three; answer questions from handout that corresponds with pages you read.
  • Study for your Sat #2 Test. 
The SAT #2 test will be given for 3B Monday, Oct. 14, and 2A & 4A Thursday, Oct. 17.  That is your Exam day for this class.  You will not be given a 1st quarter Exam in this class.
  • PSAT will be administered Wednesday, Oct. 16.
  • CGA tests will be administered Thursday & Friday, Oct. 17 & 18.
